Giving Voice Aotearoa launch September 2016
The New Zealand Speech Language Therapy Association (NZSTA) launched their version of the UK’s Giving Voice on 7 September 2016. As part of the NZSTA’s biannual conference, the event included a “Finding our Voice” workshop within the conference and a video competition began in June 2016.
They were amazed by the entries and their judge Helen McLauchlan, past president along with her eight-year-old daughter had a hard time selecting a winner. They had a fantastic response to both events and the video competition prizes were awarded at the conference dinner.
Congratulations to the winners, Annalise Brown and Sophia Cormack who won with their entry “Janes Story”.
The workshop “Finding our Voice” was a tool to involve NZSTA members and gather data from speech language therapists about what is important to them in their work, how they add value to people’s lives and to identify the specialist skills SLTs have.
