Sharing news about successful events and encounters with decision makers has always been key to the Giving Voice campaign. We are always looking for new ways to spread the campaign messages further. The 2013 photography competition encourages this!
We are inviting members of RCSLT to enter photographs of their Giving Voice events – and the twelve best images will be included in a 2014 calendar. This calendar will be the perfect gift for politicians and other key stakeholders who need to see the campaign in action and be reminded every day of the year that SLT transforms lives.
Don’t wait! Start collecting photographs at your events now. The winning images will be displayed at the RCSLT AGM in October before going on display at the college’s recently refurbished London office.
Calendars will be available to order in late 2013. Read all about the competition here.
RCSLT are thrilled to announce that this fun-filled event, pioneered by our Northern Ireland team, is going UK-wide! In 2011 and 2012 the Northern Ireland Assembly hosted a day of joke-telling to celebrate children’s communication. Children from mainstream and special schools vied with MLAs to see who could raise the largest laugh. Click here to read reports of previous events.
This year, RCSLT is working with The Communications Trust to run a children’s Voice Box event. If you work with children, we need your help to identify youngsters to get involved.

The Giving Voice campaign sees exceptional people work extremely hard to show that SLT transforms lives.
In 2013 we will make a Giving Voice Innovation Award as part of the RCSLT AGM and Study Day this October. This will be a wide-ranging award, with nominations of therapists, students, service users and external supporters all encouraged. Nominations will open in June. Start thinking now about who you’d like to see win a Giving Voice Award.
The deadline for nominations is September 4th 2013. To download the nomination form click here.
Did you hear about the ‘Strictly Come Talking’ Giving Voice awards hosted by De Montfort University? The event celebrated local speech and language therapy and generated widespread positive local media coverage. Other parts of the UK are planning local awards – could this be an option for your campaign? Learn from the De Montfort Event which was part of their Giving Voice Week.
We hope you’re as excited as we are about this year’s plans for celebrating success. If you have any new ideas or comments, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
